IHRDC Signs Training Agreement with Al Furat Petroleum Company

Damascus, SYRIA September 1997: IHRDC executed an agreement with Al Furat Petroleum Company (an association between Shell International and Syrian Petroleum Company) to design and develop training materials, then train a number of young Syrian nationals to become competent field operations and maintenance specialists. The purpose of this two-year program is to develop local nationals to replace expatriate personnel working for Al Furat, with the additional benefit of substantially reducing operating costs. IHRDC, with the support of Al Furat personnel, developed all of the training materials in its Cairo office and now has up to 24 instructors on a full-time basis in the new Al Furat Training Center in Der Ezzour. The training programs include Background Science, Operations and Maintenance Technology, and OJT Training where trainees are certified to perform jobs at the required competency levels.

SOCAR Asks IHRDC To Provide Business Management Training Programs

Azerbaijan, June 1997: SOCAR, the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic, has entered inional business standards. The purpose of the IHRDC training programs is to convey to SOCAR the essential management knowledge and skills required to undertake joint business activities with international oil companies.

The agreement calls for IHRDC to assist SOCAR in the preparation of a training needs analysis and career development programs; to strengthen English language skills of selected managers; and to develop and deliver commercial and financial training programs covering the key business needs of ional business standards. The purpose of the IHRDC training programs is to convey to SOCAR the essential management knowledge and skills required to undertake joint business activities with international oil companies.

The agreement calls for IHRDC to assist SOCAR in the preparation of a training needs analysis and career development programs; to strengthen English language skills of selected managers; and to develop and deliver commercial and financial training programs covering the key business needs of the international oil industry.

IHRDC Begins Comprehensive Manpower Study for the Kazakhstan Oil and Gas Industry

Almaty, June 1997: The Ministry of Oil and Gas Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan today announced that it has entered into an agreement with International Human Resources Development Corporation ("IHRDC") to undertake the design, development and implementation of an industry-wide training system. The work, funded through a loan from the World Bank, is expected to require approximately 18 months to complete.

"This is a very important step in the promising international expansion of Kazakhstan's petroleum and gas industry," said First Deputy Minister Murat Salamatov during the execution of the agreement. It will allow us to look carefully at our manpower needs, and then design and implement training programs to meet theose needs."
