Manager, Petroleum Geosciences e-Learning Development

The Manager of Petroleum Geosciences e-Learning Development will be based in IHRDC’s Boston headquarters and will be responsible for the development of content for the geosciences sectors of IPIMS, our E&P e-Learning system. Responsibility will be to plan, manage, and develop, with the support of subject matter experts and web developers, content for this widely accepted e-Learning system. Responsibilities will include the production of a new initiative as an add-on to our IPIMS product which we refer to as the Petroleum Exploration Action Learning Project.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Overall strategic management of new content for the geosciences sector of IPIMS.
  • Day-to-day project management and adherence to schedules and budget.
  • Writing and editing content where the hired individual has expertise.
  • Working closely with subject matter experts, graphics and web specialists.
  • Contact with subject matter experts to write new content, edit such work and see it through production.
  • Interface with inside company specialists who will assist with production.
  • Meeting with clients to formulate strategic development plans.

Position Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in geology or geophysics, advanced degree expected.
  • Hands on technical work experience in the upstream oil and gas industry.
  • Proven project management and or program management experience.
  • Experience in training and learning environments.
  • Exposure to the production of training and presentation materials.
  • Strong writing and editing skills as well as well developed computer skills.
  • Exposure, and ideally experience, with e-Learning and development of e-Learning content.

Product Line Business Manager – Oil & Gas Industry e-Learning Products

The Product Line Business Manager will have responsibility for a newly acquired suite of e-Learning Products that address the Operations & Maintenance sector of the international oil and gas industry. The individual will have day-to-day responsibility for the introduction, launch and on-going sales, marketing and customer implementation and support of this rich and robust suite of these e web-based e-Learning products. The manager will report to the Vice President of IHRDC’s e-Learning business Unit and will be located at the company’s Boston, Massachusetts headquarters.

Initial responsibility:

  • Develop and implement the sales and marketing strategy for O&M e-Learning product line.
  • Develop detailed implementation process for new customer implementations and on-going customer support.
  • Develop sales kit and train salespeople on new product features, pricing, customer implementation and customer support.
  • Assess delivery options – specifically learning management system (LMS) vendor relationships and licensing options.
  • Work with the marketing department to develop the marketing plan and appropriate collateral materials.
  • Develop the sales plan and budgets and execute product launch with support from the Regional Sales Managers.
  • Ensure that learning solutions satisfy client needs and recommend product modifications and improvements – develop process to assess content and prioritize content updates.

On-going activities will include:

  • Day-to-day oversight of O&M e-Learning product line including:
    1. Updating sales plan and monitoring of sales performance.
    2. Execution of the marketing plan working with the marketing department.
    3. Developing, refining, and maintaining pricing, proposals and contracts and related legal agreements.
    4. New customer implementations and ongoing customer support
    5. Content update process and activities
    6. Identification of opportunities to expand content coverage with conversion to e-Learning

Candidates for the position will have the following transferable and relevant experience:

  • Substantial breadth and depth in the oil and gas industry with emphasis on the operations and management sectors.
  • Experience with products and services marketed and sold into the oil and gas industry – experience with e-Learning content a plus.
  • Sales and sales management experience as well as marketing exposure.
  • Substantial experience in service fulfillment, and customer support and service.
  • Responsibility for new product or service introduction is a plus.

Director Instructional Programs – Oil & Gas Industry Training

The Director of Instructional Programs for this internationally recognized petroleum industry training organization will report to the Vice President of Instructional Programs and will interact on a regular basis with the President, Vice Presidents, and other instructors. Primary responsibility will be to maintain and expand the development, marketing and teaching of management training programs and business workshops directed to the international oil and gas industry. Additional responsibilities will include course content development and support of the international marketing of those programs. Job location is at the company’s Boston headquarters.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • As the Lead Instructor will teach management level courses and related business simulation workshops both at the company headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts and at major international locations.
  • Will be responsible for updating existing course content and workshops and for designing new courses.
  • Will identify and recruit additional full-time and third party course instructors.
  • Will market the programs and support the sales team in its efforts to market the programs worldwide.

Requirements for the Position:

The candidate will have a solid and successful background in the international oil and gas industry including experience in both functional and commercial areas. This would ideally include early technical responsibilities, followed by work experience on the commercial side of the industry. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and experience teaching either in a formal environment or at least some meaningful presentation or instructional experience is required.

Specific Requirements and Expectations

  • Breadth and depth of knowledge and experience in various sectors of the international oil and gas industry. Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of technical, project development and business aspects of the petroleum industry. This will include the ability to read financial statements, prepare financial models to analyze investment opportunities and exposure to project management, financing and regulatory compliance.
  • Broad technical and business experience and an inquisitive mind that will support the ability to update and improve existing course content.
  • A high energy level and the desire and enthusiasm to expand and grow an already successful instructional programs group. A personable style that will enable success in the hiring and coaching of new permanent and part-time instructors and achieving lasting, positive relationships with program participants.
  • An outgoing personality and sufficient teaching or training experience to present management and executive knowhow effectively to a diverse audience.
  • A creative and visionary orientation that will support the ability to see new opportunities both in terms of clients and instructional programs.
  • The ability to provide support to a business development group that has established a strong reputation for its business management programs.
  • Educational background will include a technical undergraduate degree, coupled ideally with an MBA.
  • The ability and willingness to travel internationally and be sensitive to cultural diversity.

Upstream Petroleum Technical Training Specialist

IHRDC seeks an oil and gas technical specialist in its Boston office to assist in the design, development and teaching of our proprietary, fully-digital workshops devoted to the E&P Project Development Process. The Training Specialist will work with a small team of engineers and computer programmers to capture the upstream project development workflows, incorporate them into simulated game settings and then serve as an instructor and mentor in delivering these workshops to our international oil and gas clients. Responsibilities may also include teaching blended training programs in petroleum technology, supporting our competency management services and developing new content for our e-Learning offerings.

Candidates must have 7 or more years of technical experience in upstream oil and gas industry. Breadth of experience in exploration and production is expected. Proven and strong computer skills and teaching/presentation abilities are required, as is an advanced degree in petroleum engineering or geosciences.

Must be a U.S. citizen or have right to work in U.S.
